How It Works

When you visit Varallo Orthodontics for your first appointment, we’ll start  giving you an exam of your teeth. If Dr. Varallo decides that you are a good fit for Invisalign treatment, we’ll use our digital system to customize your personal aligner sets. We’ll even show you a projection of what your smile will look like when you’re done with treatment!

After your consultation, you’ll receive your clear aligner trays. Invisalign comes in sets of 20-30 trays on average, depending on your unique needs and smile goals. You’ll need to wear each set of trays for about 22 hours per day, only removing them to brush and floss your teeth, eat, or participate in sports. 

You can expect to change trays every 7-10 days, but always listen to Dr. Varallo’s instructions! All in all, Invisalign treatment typically takes between 18 and 24 months to straighten your smile, but some patients complete treatment in as little as six months!

Invisalign Is Removable: Here’s What That Means for You

When you start orthodontic treatment, you can choose between two types of appliances: fixed and removable. Each type has pros and cons, and you’ll work with Dr. Varallo to determine which appliance is best for your smile goals. 

Traditional metal and clear braces are fixed to your teeth, while Invisalign clear aligners are removable. Because braces don’t come off until you’re done with treatment, they work 24/7 to adjust your smile, and you never have to worry about keeping up with an appliance. Typically, we recommend that patients with more severe conditions use braces to fix their smiles. 

Invisalign is removable, which makes it easier to clean and care for than braces. Because you can take them out, you can enjoy meals without dietary restrictions, participate in sports more easily, and brush your teeth without relearning your routine. Invisalign aligners are best for treating mild to moderate orthodontic problems.
